Sunrise Blue 02:28
How did it go from beating ten times a second To beating one time every ten Now you wash your hands Sat at the end of the shower smoking Saying you doubt you ever meant it Country girl oh why The way that you stuck a knife in my heart Opened me then pulled me apart Man I wish you could've loved me all the time Can’t you see the sin it is to make me cry Night to day the cold arrived Sunrise blue The cold arrived with you I miss you, I do And everything you arrived and left with Hello my baby, thought you were never coming back

Sausalito 02:09
“I’ll pick you up from Sausalito” It’s double two double zero Cos what I really need is to let go A couple days alone… We both believe that winter should be cold I-80 straight to W Y O Me and you and a buncha rodeos So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito Cause when I’m at work Your image it stays stuck Insinuates itself into my brain It hits me like a freight train And when I’m at work Your image it stays stuck Insinuates itself into my brain It hits me… So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito So pick me up from Sausalito

Oh boy here I go again, I feel it coming closer Afraid I’m losing edge, afraid I’m losing hunger When there’s always something wrong right around corner I’m already tired, think I’m slipping under But this whole thing’s still on fire I’m going out on the wire I’m making sure that we’re making it Look up the sun is out baby But this whole thing’s still on fire (But this whole thing’s still on fire) I’m going out on the wire (I’m going out on the wire) Goddamn, I said that we’re making it Look up the sun is out baby How long will it last this time (give it til tomorrow) The past’s given me the right, get off at any moment I’m betting with my heart, feels just like a gamble When I feel it getting dull, I’ll just switch the channel But this whole thing’s still on fire (I’m on the edge of desire) I’m going out on the wire (I know that it can go higher) I’m making sure that we’re making it (Ooooh oooh) Look up the sun is out baby But this whole thing’s still on fire (I’m on the edge of desire) I’m going out on the wire (I know that it can go higher) I’m making sure that we’re making it (Ooooh oooh) Look up the sun is out baby

Horse Girl 03:06
Shouldn’t trust me, I’m not nice to you I will say otherwise but i don’t think you’re cool You’re very real but feel very fake When push comes to shove all I feel is hate I’m falling in love with a horse girl She’s making my heart go into gallop mode I didn’t want to like a rich girl All the money in the world Couldn’t buy me out Acting like she’s been anointed It’s really annoying I feel like destroying you Always said eat the rich She’s a blend of citrous, cinnamon And I’m synonym of hypocrite Shouldn’t trust me, I’m not nice to you I will say otherwise but I don’t think you’re cool You should sit down if you’re gonna wait When push comes to shove all I feel is hate My girl’s family’s ranch in Wyoming Is built like a Dubai resort There she goes galloping Better than a cowboy on a Lois Weber that got lost Back to California In her car all gas and no brakes One day when we go too fast If we crash Straight to hell I won’t live to tell How much I (don’t) hate you I will say otherwise But I still think you’re cool I hate me Because I still believe That your heart’s made of gold Hate You I hate me Hate You I hate me

You’re a fuck up person You just fuck everything up Words can’t describe it It’s poetry in motion Blasting furnace you insist on putting me through Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you Miss it when we were like velcro Bumper sticker the way we spoke Suspicion went on for many years You’re sorry to spring it on me like this I couldn’t believe it, right there in front of me Fuck, I introduced you, where is my finders fee? You’re a fuck up person You just fuck everything up Words can’t describe it It’s poetry in motion Blasting furnace you insist on putting me through Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you Rumours are true you’re seeing so and so Just a friend, last we spoke Tension thick and air lovesick You’re so sorry to spring it on me like this (I introduced you, where is my finders fee?) You just fuck everything up Words can’t describe it It’s poetry in motion Blasting furnace you insist on putting me through Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you (Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you Maybe there’s more to less When there is less of you)

Tell me do you not hear me thinking about you? Calling you to tell you how I’m sick of how you look at me when I am speaking If only your eyes would stay on mine not on my mouth ‘cause i can only thinking of kissing You make my thoughts so loud Can people tell I want you now When I think I am over it It hits me all over again I would like for you to know I think of you when I’m not even thinking That’s the thrill, that’s the gold Going after someone when I know that I can have them That’s the thrill, that’s the gold We’re somewhat addicted to emotional excitement Tell me do you not hear me thinking about you I don’t wanna put too many words around it but it’s affecting me deeply This whole thing has exploded and it’s growing bigger I’m calling you so you will meet me I don’t know what to do when my mind’s stuck on you Miss you so when I’m all alone, lonely too You make my thoughts so loud Can people tell I want you now When I think I am over it It hits me all over again

about

Drawn to both glossy radio hits and off-kilter sounds, Adriana Caldas de Barros makes leftfield electronic pop as Nana Lourdes that feels both eccentric and familiar. As an only child living in the middle of nowhere, Portugal, the 27-year-old artist assuaged a lifetime of boredom by teaching herself how to write, produce, and mix while shuffling between her parents’ living room and late great-grandma’s bedroom. In 2020, she began releasing her first singles “R.D.L.” and “Kenny,” which immediately drew online attention for their effortlessly catchy melodies, psychedelic synths, hyperpop-like Auto-Tune, and sparkly 2000s pop-inspired production. Touching on themes of belonging, isolation, and heartbreak, Nana’s whimsical lyrics immerse listeners into imagined scenarios that pull from her experience as a film school grad.

Nana presents her most fully realized narrative yet on her debut album, Wyoming, a concept record about a toxic romance that also serves as an analogy for the addictive nature of celebrity culture. It was fully written, produced, and mixed by Nana, apart from the co-written/produced “Cowgirl Make Me Cry (Interlude).”

Folding in elements of country and folk, yacht rock, disco house, and electro-funk, the album follows a couple who stokes their romance on a whirlwind road trip from California to Wyoming. The relationship eventually spirals into an on-again, off-again breakup, which Nana sees as an apt metaphor for relationship to her pop culture obsessions. “Guilty pleasures can feel familiar and comfortable, whether it brings you pleasure or pain,” she explains.

She had never visited the U.S. before writing the album and got the first spark of inspiration for Wyoming while rewatching a 2019 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians called “Cattle Drive Me Crazy,” in which the family visits a Wyoming ranch. Immediately, she became fixated on how the Kardashians’ artificiality stood out against the rural backdrop. ”It was the perfect escape,” she says, until she began questioning her willingness to fall into this universe.

To universalize her ambivalence toward celebrity culture, Nana disguises her lyrics on Wyoming to come across as love songs where the main character becomes infatuated with an uber-wealthy horse girl. On “Sausalito,” Nana conveys fanatical desire when she sings, “When I’m at work / Your image stays stuck / Insinuates itself into my brain.” But even in this honeymoon phase, there’s disillusionment. “Always said eat the rich… / I’m synonym of hypocrite,” Nana sings on “Horse Girl,” hinting at her own regret in buying into the allure of stardom. The project’s eclectic palette was influenced by the Carpenters, Kacey Musgraves, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Hornsby, and ‘90s California hip-hop.

Nana’s fascination with American pop culture stems back to growing up in a small town of ~800 people, where “there’s nothing to do, so you find other peoples’ lives more interesting,” she says. As a child, her mom always kept American tabloid magazines around the house, and she annoyed her parents by playing Britney Spears’ 2003 album In the Zone incessantly in the car. She picked up guitar after becoming a Jonas Brothers fan, but as a kid living in Portugal, she never saw a path toward having a career in music. Later, while attending film school, a film audio class finally gave her the push of confidence to pursue songwriting and production.

Though she’s inspired by Britney, Currents by Tame Impala, Enya, and that one LeAnn Rimes song, Nana wants to push the boundaries of pop. “I’ve always felt like I was in the middle of two worlds: commercial pop and alternative music,” she says. “I want to be a bridge between those worlds. I want to be known as a curator, but make songs that the masses can enjoy.”
